For scuba divers, it functions as a retail destination. Mask fit, wetsuit sizing, fin selection and general browsing all work well in person — these are the purchases that genuinely benefit from being tried rather than ordered.

What a retailer of this kind generally does not provide is the ongoing support that keeps a scuba diver diving: regulator servicing, cylinder visual inspection and hydrostatic testing, air and Nitrox fills, and course scheduling. In Sydney that is not a constraint, since the city has plenty of full-service dive centres.

Worth checking directly: whether any scuba servicing is offered and for which brands; whether cylinder testing is available; whether air or Nitrox fills are done on site; and whether freediving or scuba training is run. If you are equipping for spearfishing or freediving, this is a strong option; for scuba support, expect to use a second business.

If you are buying exposure protection for Sydney, buy for July rather than February. Winter water around seventeen degrees is what determines whether a suit works, and a five millimetre suit that feels generous in summer will cut your winter dives short.
