The Fleurieu Peninsula is important for shore diving and accessible weekend diving from Adelaide, and it holds the state's most reliable leafy seadragon sites.
Rapid Bay is strongly associated with jetty diving and leafy seadragons, and is one of the best-known sites of its kind in Australia. Second Valley provides reef, rock formations and shore diving. Port Noarlunga offers shore-accessible reef diving over a well-defined reef system.
All three are within comfortable driving distance of Adelaide, which makes the Fleurieu the default weekend destination for most South Australian divers.

Port Noarlunga's reef runs parallel to shore and is accessed from a jetty, making it one of the most straightforward shore dives in the state.
It is an aquatic reserve, and its accessibility makes it a common training site as well as a recreational one.
